FOUR RARE POSTCARDS FROM 1947 SIGNED BY JACOVITTI

Four rare postcards of 1947 signed Benito Jacovitti have arrived to enrich the "Cow Postard" Collection. Born in Termoli on 19th March 1923, Benito Jacovitti is seen as being one of the greatest Italian cartoonists. He began his career in the world of publishing when he was very young, providing humorous sketches to the weekly Il Brivido. Following that, in 1940, he arrived at Vittorosio with the characters of Pippo, Pertica and Palla. With the passing of the years, Jacovitti created numerous other characters born on the pages of the Giorno dei ragazzi (Children’s Daily) and the Courrier des Petits (Kids Courier). Undoubtedly his most famous one remains Coco Bill, the mythical cowboy with a butt end always in his mouth. Creator of a paradoxical universe where everything is possible and where even slices of salami have a soul, Jacovitti has entered in his own right in the historic annals of Italian comic strips. He passed away on 3rd December 1977. The Jac-cow which we show here is a quiet and indifferent animal, as tradition demands, but in her calm smile she evokes a certain intimate satisfied enjoyment of the misfortune of others.
